These people dont have their minds open

A number A has n digits in base 10 if

10^(n-1) <= A < 10^n

After taking logs;

n-1 <= log_10 A < n

Example 7650 has 4 digits

4-1 = 3 <= 3.88366... < 4

So it has 4 digits.

Let A = 7^2006

log_10 7^2006 = 2006 log_10 7 = 1695.266668...

1696-1=1695<= log_10 7^2006 < 1696

So it has 1696 Digits

This will work with ANY number (assuming you can calculate log_10 A), in ANY base (change log_10 to log_b).

this number obviously has more than 1000 digits... I would need to teach my computer to make multiplications properly before I could answer... (big number calculations require specific treatment)
