American kids do have basic health care. There are tons of programs for children whose parents do not have health care coverage.
In addition, no adult is refused necessary health care. There are hospitals that do not turn down anyone regardless of their ability to pay and, if it's an emergency, no hospital is allowed to refuse treatment to you.

I am not OK with kids not having health care. On the other hand, that is simply not a function of gov't. It is not healthcare that the "universal healthcare" crowd wants. They want those who are better off to pay for the health care of those who aren't.
The problem with supporting health care for children of the poor, subsidizing their incomes, etc. is that it eliminates the major disincentive of having children when you can't support them. That leads to more children who are basically wards of the state.
Look up the historical statistics on single parents and children living in poverty and compare them to the expansion of welfare in this country. I bet that you will see a correlation.

American children do have basic health care.
You ask us not to be defensive, but your question sure appears to be meant to inflame. You make it sound like republicans want children dying in the streets from treatable diseases.
What we conservatives want is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY! If you are going to bring children into this world, be able to care for them. Sure, there are some people who end up on bad times, but most of the drain on our society is from people who were never able to hold their heads above water, yet chose to have a family anyway.

American kids do have basic health care. Anyone can go to the ER and receive treatment, even without insurance. That is basic health care.
Are you talking about something else? Like free "preventive" care? Please define your points more accuratly, becase as it stands now, your premise is false.
