Bidding on Keywords is the way to go. Use Google Adwords or Yahoo's sponsored search. Depending on your needs, you can advertise locally or nationwide. Be careful though as some keywords are very competitive and may cost you quite a bit of money. Conversely, some keywords are pretty much an untapped market. You can get hordes of traffic to your site for very little money if you select keywords and phrases that are very specific. Test, test, test! Make sure that your ad copy is very attractive and your URLs take searchers to exactly what they're looking for. Use your keyword in ad text and titles so that it is bolded when your customers find your ads in the SERP (Search Engine Results Page). I have a few very handy tricks that I use to generate massive keyword lists and a couple of outstanding tricks that boost clickthrough rate. I have had some of my campaigns go from a 2-3% CTR to a 20% CTR with one simple tweak to the ad text. Luckily I have been able to use my tricks to leverage a lucrative consulting income so I can't give them away for free!
Please e-mail me if you'd like some more information or help establishing a successful Google Adwords or Yahoo account. I also have experience with MSN AdCenter, Miva (Findwhat), Looksmart, Ask.com, Kanoodle, mamma.com, and numerous Comparison Shopping Engines (Bizrate, Shopping.com, Froogle, Nextag, Pricegrabber.....)The list goes on and on....
Hope that helps!

If you'll share your website address I'll take a look at your code and see how Search Engine friendly it is.
The other answers are filling the gaps here. Meta tags are PART of the process but there are several other features that will influence your results.

Keyword buyout and bidding. Look into it. You're going to want to read up on SEO or Search Engine Optimization. I can't explain the whole process of it, we'd be here for days. In order to score high on the search engines, you need content and keywords. Content consists of articles, blogs and commentary on what your site is about.
affiliateclassroom.com has tons of tips and advice for making your site the best it can be.
There are also affiliate companies you can join that offer training and tips on keyword bidding, website design, make profits off your site and more.

Try there for a start. Doing it yourself is the best way to learn and appriciate all you've done.

You're getting lots of great answers, but a word of advice.
You'll probably want to start off targeting your market regionally, unless you're already a national or international company.
Those are might be tough terms on a national basis, but could be much easier on a regional basis.
I'd agree that Google Adwords or Yahoo Marketing may be your fastest route to success. If you have a specialty in those fields, make sure you include that information to differentiate yourself.

Place an opening paragraph on your website with the top 4 keywords, so when the engine crawls your site it picks up these keywords.
Also within in your website you would want to hyperlink keywords on your website to other pages within the site. Why? It will make the crawler crawl throughout your website.
Write up an article or news release with your keywords. With those online new release site that allow you to hyperlink w/in the text, take the keywords and link it back to your website.
I hope you have found some value in what I've shared.
Peace,

You will need to add meta tags to the beginning of the code of the web site.
meta tags tell the search engines what the key words are, location, designer, size, etc etc.
Just look up meta tags on dogpile and there are many free help forums to creating them.
Just make sure to insert them as the first text in your code.
