Pyschologically, music can affect your mind in many ways, especially moods. For example, I find it difficult to listen to alternative rock music at work, because I become hyper and unwilling to focus on work stuff. However, in the car, it helps me stay alert and pay attention better without significant agitation.
Happy dance/hip-hop music can bring me from a depressed or negative mood to a happier or dancy kind of mood.

it's one of the best things in my opinion...i love to lay down....lock my room...stay on my bed with my ipod......you can put a sad song if you're in a sad mood....happy for a happy mood...angry for an angry mood...etc...and sometimes the lyrics jump out at you....you can hear the lyrics in your head....and you can relate to the lyrics

if a relationship ends you can relate to "what's left of me" by nick lachey....or "be my escape" by relient k.....for an optimistic mood you can relate to "for the moments i feel faint" by relient k...for an angry mood you can relate to "never enough" by eminem and 50 cent

you can relate to a lot of the lyrics and feel better knowing that people feel the same way...sometimes it isn't just in the lyrics but it's in the music....."so sick" by ne-yo just has that sad sound to it....."the perfect fan" by the backstreet boys has a sad but happy/sad sound with the piano....

"this i promise you" by nsync is one of the sappiest love songs of all....it's all in your mood and what songs you listen to
