That depends on what you mean by discriminate. Should they beat others and harass them..no that would be illegal...can they deny others right to school...yes they are private but if that is case they should get $0.00 of any public funds in perpetuity

Should be allowed? More like, the reality is these "private" schools are funded by private citizens and, as such, they have a very specific doctrine. Generally, this doctrine is clearly spelled out well in advance of enrollment. Private schools I've known actually require and review an application, which includes your family status and make up! If your particular religion is not part of the established doctrine, then so be it. Your only CHOICE is to leave the school and seek another more in line with what you believe.

Yes.

While I don't agree with discrimination and prejudice, everyone has a right to associate with whom they want, and to learn and teach in an environment that they choose, with a message they choose.

If we are going to force the public government-sponsored schools to remain neutral on the religion issue (which me must, constitutionally), then we must also allow private schools the freedom to set their own standards and create their own environment.

That way, people truly have a choice where to go and what messages they listen to.

should they be allowed??...that's a matter of opinion. are they allowed to?...yes. unlike publicly funded schools, private schools are funded by those who attend. accordingly, it is a parent's choice to enroll their child into that particular school. the assumption is that those who pay to attend the school, are in agreement with the principles and guidelines of the school. in short, think of a private school as a privately owned business. someone who owns a McDonalds restuarant has to operate under the general guidelines of the McDonalds corporation (the menu, cups, condiments, restaurant design, etc). whereas, someone who owns Mom & Pop Shop in your neighborhood, has no rules and guidelines to follow. it is their own, private business. hopefully this helps!

Yes but I would call it choice rather than discrimination.

A private school is just that - private. It should be allowed to implement whatever rules and procedures it sees fit.

Parents can then chose to sent their kids to a school they think is appropriate and not one that is dictated to them by the government.

It is a private school for a reason, they only want a specific type of person attending. Whether they "choose" by race, religion, or ethnicity it is their choice ecause they are private!!!

No they shouldn't. There needs to be something in writing within the rules of the school that the board puts out stating what they adhere to at the school. If you are being discriminated against, take it up with the board.

private schools can establish any cirriculum they want, and make attending church or taking religious classes or praying a requirement. They can't however not admit you solely based on your own beliefs, but would a jew or muslim want to go to a catholic school? I know catholic school girl outfits rock, but why would they want to
