My partner and I are trying to have a child. I did Artificial Insemination last week and I am suppose to start my period on the 21st. I hope I am pregnant but I have been having symptoms and I don't know if it is because I might start my period or could I be pregnant. However I have noticed that I am bloated alot (I cannot buckle my jeans) , my breats are bigger and tender, I am getting cramps, and moody. . I have done some research basically it goes either way. I can be pregnant or I could start my period. Are there any other sympomts I should be looking for? I did the insemination the day I was ovulating but could there be a chance it didn't work and if so why? HELP! Any advice can help.

I would wait until you know for sure you have missed your period. You could take a pregnancy test or go to the doctor, but sometimes its not accurate right away. you should always consult your doctor about things like this instead of just assuming one way or the other. Again, I say just wait and see what happens. I know you are excited, but have patience!

Yes, you could be pregnant. You could also not be pregnant. Artificial insemination is not perfect, and there are many reasons that it didn't work. Even with couples are trying to conceive when the woman is ovulating, there is less than a 20% chance each month. Your symptoms could be related to pregnancy, could be related to your period, or it could be because you want to be pregnant so badly that they are happening (no, I am not calling you crazy, but sometimes people want a child so bad that their body actually starts acting like it's pregnant, you even miss periods, gain weight, and start lactating). The only way to know for sure is to take a pregnancy test. I would wait a couple days after you miss you period, if that happens. Good luck.

Having had lots of inseminations myself, I agree with what you say so far, it could go either way.

I got pregnant lots of times (failed to keep the pregancies but that's a different matter), but I knew when I was pregnant because I felt a dragging pain in groin. Every time I passed urine, it felt like something was droping down into my uterus. Does that sound odd or familiar?

When I told the nurse about what I was feeling, she gave me a little wink & told me she'd see me for m pregnancy test. It was always positive when I got this feeling.

I had the same feeling when I got pregnant with both of my children naturally, so you never know.

I sincerely hope it is positive for you & I know what you BOTH are going through.

Fingers crossed :-)

You will just have to wait or check with your doctor. Some dos and don’ts for getting pregnant are Do limit movement after intercourse. Standing up after intercourse can cause the semen to leak out. Try to wait twenty minutes after sex before getting up and moving around. Do try to keep the sperm inside your vagina longer. You can also try putting a pillow under your pelvis to help tilt your body so the sperm can travel upwards easier. Do try to make sex enjoyable. Do limit male masturbation. It will help to increase the man’s sperm count and improve your chances of getting pregnant. Do take prenatal vitamins if you are trying to conceive. Folic acid is very important during the first trimester of pregnancy. Don’t drink alcohol or use drugs at the time of conception. This applies to both the male and female. Don’t douche after having intercourse. It can wash out the sperm.Don’t have oral sex prior to intercourse. There is some evidence that the bacteria in the mouth can cause damage to male sperm..Don’t have anal sex prior to intercourse. Bacteria in the anas can be carried into the vagina from the man’s penis.

Wait about 3 months..if you start to get fat and moody and breasts start growing like a teenage girl..there is an off chance you may be pregnant..oh..and if they do an ultrasound and you see a figure that looks like Casper the friendly ghost..there is a slim chance that you may be prego.

Wait unitl the 21st and if you've missed your period then test. You don't want to test too soon. Or have your doctor give you a blood test...Good Luck
