I gave him a card and a few pictures made right after he delivered my baby (pics of him holding my baby, him and my husband, etc.). I also wrote some words myself on the card, saying how great he was (he did an excellent job), and thanked him. Just getting a card with a preprinted "thank you" note isn't enough.
I think this is what they like the most anyway. They like to know that someone appreciates what they've done. Those doctors make lots of money, anyway, and they can pretty much buy whatever they want.

Depending if your delivery doc is your prim doc then a nice pic of your baby to hang on his wall of fame is good enough. But if he's an on-call doc..no gift. Thank you and goodbye. I've had 3children all by the same OBGYN, we have a special relationship but that is only because he's seen me so many times (lol).

Errr - nothing.
He delivers probably about 10 babies a day 5 days a week, thats 200 babies a month and close to 2000 a year.
Do you really think he's going to be touched by a card with one of those babies hand print on it?
This is crazy - but only in America I guess!!
Just don't swear at him, thats the best you can do!

I don't believe it is necessary or expected to give the doctor who delivers your baby a gift. It is his/her job and you (or your insurance) pays for their services. If he/she really goes out of their way to make the experience special in some way, then a nice thank you note is fine. I have had 4 babies and never gave any of my doctors a thank you gift.

Sweetheart, it's his job and you or your insurance company paying him will be gift enough. Sometimes life calls for something extra, this is not one of those times. Concentrate on your baby and your new family structure. I'm sure your doctor would much rather that than any material object you could give him/her.

Send a picture so they can paste it on the wall. If it is your normal obgyn and you see the person often or they have delivered all your kids maybe then some flowers, but I would stick with the picture thing.

Most ob/gyn's have an album of babies they delivered...so a picture of your baby would be great. Other than that you're not expected to get them anything...a thank-you note is plenty.

You don't need to get him/her anything. You are paying them for the service. Just send them a thank you card with a picture of your baby in it.
