Its really not as simple as that, but yes it elevates the risk.
Carcinogens from the carbon in burnt foods could do that.
This really depends on the individual.(family history, tabaquism,etc)

There are corcinogens in burnt food that are known to cause cancer but their in very miniscule amounts. If you brun your food everday at every meal your should be worried. An occasional bite probably does nothing.
