Cuba was tiny and 90 miles from our shores and the Mafia wanted revenge for being kicked out by Castro.

The USSR and China are way too big to ignore and not negotiate with.

We didn't trade much with the USSR until they became Russia again, and this was a big reason for the downfall of Soviet communism.

I think the idea was that if we isolated Cuba from the rest of the world, that they would become so backward that the people would overthrow Castro. It hasn't worked all that well--so maybe it's time to give up the idea. So now everyone has to get make their vacation plans and buy their cigars illegally through Canada--I really doubt we are killing their economy.

There is a movement to start trading with Cuba, but since the Us is not truly a democracy, our votes don't count unless they're accompanied by lots of cash. The bottom line is Cuba doesn't have anything we want. It sucks that our government only pulls out the freedom card when money is involved.

We got our feelings hurt when we couldnt take out Cuba

USSR and China are huge comparitively.....

We are already planning to try and take Cuba once Castro dies....the country swears they will continue to be a communist country after his death, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
