There are 3 Drawbacks to any of the datsun Z cars.
1.) Rust.
2.) Rust.
3.) More Rust.
If it's pretty well taken care of and no major rust, they are awesome cars.
A clean datsun is seen so much less, and looks so much better than any civic
I prefer the look of the older Z's though (I Own a 240Z)

well there are a couple of things..... first depending on where you live finding one without body damage could be hard, body damage can cost quite alot to fix unless your a bondo person, (im not) finding parts can be a challenge, you have to make sure when you do find one that the fluids havent sat for too long or you can expect major transmission and engine problems.... if you have the money to actually do something with one though I would say go for it their beautiful cars and despite what people say the gas is gonna be less than say what you would pay for a truck or SUV...
I recently finished restoring a 1970 International Scout special edition 800A and the gas is very expensive.....

If the water pump is undesirable then using the vehicle without water interior the radiator has probable busted the engine head that's a high priced fix. additionally your therostat would have been caught and now it rather is a moot factor considering which you have bigger issues if certainly the pinnacle is busted.
