i remember using that stupid pad forever. I was kinda mad that my mother never told me about a tampon. So I think 14 is old anough to let her make up her own mind, she knows about them so it isn't like you can hide it from her no more.

I have 4 girls and 3 of them have their period. All 3 started out with tampons. Why would they want to have mucky soup in their underpants when they can just use tampons? Some parents just don't want anything up there. These parents WORSHIP the unpenetrated vagina and want to keep it that way at all costs.
GET OVER IT! If she feels better with tampons, let her use them. That's what they are there for. It doesn't make her any more grown up or less your daughter. It just makes her happier and perfectly normal.

If she feels comfortable, and is having no problems don't inter fer. Go with the flow it will not hurt her and if she feels your on her side she will not hesitate to come to you if she does have a problem and she will listen when you say why don't you stop using them this period and see if you feel better. I have had cousins and a sister that never used a pad. and they haven't had any medical problems. My 16 year old thought the same thing at that age. and now she feels more comfortable with a pad. it only last 1 year with her. Let her make her own decisions on little things that wont hurt her and she will come to you with even the little one's.

If she feels comfortable wearing them, then let her. Just make sure she knows about Toxic Shock Syndrome and does not leave her tampons in for more than 4 hours at time.

Maybe you can make a deal with your mom. Wear them during the day, but at night give your body a little break at night and wear pads. Just make sure you use the lowest absorbency and change them often....4-6 hours. It is more comfortable and I think it should be your choice.

i'm 14 and i started at 11 and i only used pads once because i was with a friend who didn't have tampons. i'm in a family with 2 older sisters. they and my mom all use tampons. some girls are more comfortable with pads, it's just a choice.

It is a preference thing and since it is her period and she thinks it is more comfortable let her. Sanitary napkins are nasty and gross and for a teen I can only imagine. As long as she washes her hands and changes them frequently there is no health risk. My girlfriends mother would not let her wear them because she was a virgin even though we got information that explained it does not affect that she still refused and she really resented her mother over it.

I told my mom I just wanted to use them in the summer but ended up using them all the time...they are perfectly safe is you use them for less than 8 hours...also always use the least absorbency that you need. they are great and make you fell so much cleaner and carefree. Hope this helped. just tell your mom how much happier it makes you feel when you don't have to worry about leaks all the time

I honestly wouldn't let a 14 yr old use tampons. I didn't use them until I was 18.

no. As long as she's responsible. The only downside is that tampons are more likely to be forgotten than pads and if left in too ling they can cause infection and shock. If she is fully responsible and changes them accordingly then I don't see a problem.
