Could be a variety of things...Battery, AC Adapter (not charging), Motherboard, CPU, Memory, Hard Drive. I would call Toshiba...they will be able to troubleshoot with you.

Oh, don't start me on this one!!!!

My laptop is 2 years old and it recently strarted to turn itself off. I put it down to the fact that the weather is hot & it is over heating, but now the thing won't turn on at all.

I have tried everything - the helpdesk didn't want to know as it is out of warranty. They told me that I could send it to them & they would look at it at a cost obviously. (I married to an IT techi so this is not goingto happen).

Apparently, it is the motherboard. They quoted me £150 for the motherboard and £35 to look at it.

It sounds like yours is going to go the same way.

Good luck :-)

It's because those things are highly faulty - anything could be wrong. When I worked customer service at an electronics store I saw those things come back ALL THE TIME and they take forever to get fixed because if they are under warranty, Toshiba refuses to let anyone but their own technician fix them.
