I have used cleaners that are specified for cleaning up pet messes. They are made to neutralize the odor, and clean up that specific type of mess. Also, for a mattress, I would use the ones made to clean carpets.

It is a little cumbersome, but I had the best luck with getting urine smell out of a mattress by lugging it outside and letting it sit in the sun all day long. I first washed the spot with Lysol.
I have been a mom for 27 years and have done daycare in my home for 20 years. I make all the beds that kids use with a crib size waterproof pad under the mattress pad followed by the sheets, blanket, and comforter. Daycare children each have their own sheet that is spread folded in 1/2 on top of the comforter and their own blanket. Any accidents make for a possible large amount of laundry, but the mattress is usually protected. I cleaned a lot of mattresses before I figured out prevention was a better way to go!

That will help. Also, I like the lemon scented bleach. Also, if she wets the bed often - you can get the mattress steamed cleaned. A good carpet cleaning person, with the correct attachments to do upholstery can clean it for you - should dry in about 3 hours or less.

Use a wet/dry vac to suck out as much of the liquid as you can. Make a paste with white vinegar and borax working it into the stained area. Then cover the entire area with the borax and leave it overnight. In the morning, vacuum up the dried borax. Borax has the instructions on the side of the box, too.

Greased Lightning in a spray bottle - wet the stains thoroughly and then spritz with water. let it set for a few minutes, rub off excess wetness w/ a towel and let the rest air dry. This stuff rocks.

vinegar, hot soapy water, and a lot of elbow grease. The vinegar soaks up the pee smell and takes it out of the mattress. good luck to you!
