The world is not a better place your right it is reaching boiling point, the wars in the Far East simplify that 100%. We as human beings have become immune to suffering or Death depicted on our TV screens be it the news or some action die hard movie! If we see some sort of atrocity then we are shocked for about 5 Min's before we forget about it and tune into some Hollywood sitcom.
Our children are becoming spoilt over petted and constantly we allow them to have anything they want for a quite life which is wrong, to be able to even have Free speech is wrong, people are stupid its as simple as that...
Its very sad, the world is falling apart from the massive pollution and gluttony of the Environment to the Wars raging over the worlds resources and Land.
It won't be long the way things are going before the next great war will be had and then we will all be done for! Nuclear power may look like a great thing but look at Chernobyl to know it isn't, not to mention the birth defects, diseases etc.
Mankind is self destructive and we bow down to the Corporate Gods of this world and the Capitalism that is its pet. We are simply cattle on a very large field...unless we say no more what kind of future do we leave for our children!

The only reason that being politically correct is such the norm is because people are actually taking it to heart, people are starting to care about others feelings at the cost of not really saying what they mean or what is on their mind. I would vote for a man who was not politcally correct because he would be normal like the majority of the Americans. The bad thing is when he would say something that offends someone they would play the PC card. It is truly a shame the way our country has taken a turn for the worse but that is only because greed and power have taken control of our decision makers. It is time to stand, reach down and grab ahold and make difference, get involved with you community, your city, you state and your country. Say what you believe give your opinion (just make sure it is an educated opinion) forget about being PC say what you mean, and what you feel. I know exactly how you are feeling I have the same problems here in Alaska and it has broken me out of my shell and I am getting more involved and I want to get into the political arena and make a stand for what is right. There are so many people that go in for the good reasons but they get corrupted by the system. I know I will not. Because I am the most hard headed Marine you'll ever know, but I know what I want and I know what the majority of the people want and that is what is most important.

I agree with you completely. The children having rights is actually a good thing in principle. The law in this case was designed to prevent child abuse, so thumbs up to the concept. Unfortunately in practice, it does not give children ANY responsibility, obviously this is a disaster, how can anyone have rights without responsibilities?
Children are now allowed to run amok in schools and dictate their own terms of treatment. education suffers, so the pass rate has to be reduced and the questions made easier so that the Government can claim that standards are improving.
How can standards be improving when you only need to get 40% for a top pass grade?
The world does indee appear to be heading to hell in a hand cart. Much of this however is purely down to perception.
You would be forgiven for thinking we are decending into more and more wars with more and more terrorism.
In fact this is not true, there is a smaller percentage of the world population involved in war today, than at anytime in the last 100 years. out of a global population of 6.6 Billion people, more than 6 Billion of them are not at war! the media focuses on the tiny minority that are.
Remember this and chill out.

i agree. i'm a school teacher and i see the results of this every day. kids who have no respect for anyone or anything. they don't care about education, their future or the world around them. and why? because their parents have not instilled those values into them. it's not all the parents' fault. some are single moms or dads just trying to make ends meet. but many just have no parenting skills. their kids run the show and walk all over them. rather than take the difficult route and punish their kids to teach them a lesson they just give in and give the kids whatever they want.
kids get used to that and assume it's true everywhere. they don't fear any punishment at school because they know there will be no repercussions at home.
i think it's important to give kids a voice--i learned that from mr. rogers. but at the same time parents need to be parents. teach their kids right from wrong, discipline them, and make sure they grow up to be productive citizens. too often parents drop their kids off at school and expect us to be the parents for the next 12 years. it doesn't work that way.

I have to admit, I agree with you totally. With the way this world is going, can you imagine what life on this planet is going to be like when these "mini-hitlers" take over. I think it is time to bring the paddle back to the house and go back to the time...which wasn't that many years ago....where children had a healthy fear of authority, but it will be difficult to ever have happen since it seems like everybody is content with the computer, tv, and cellphone replacing the parents in the home!!!!

Yes it is and no it isn't. Life moves on the the whole point is to be able to move with it, of course you do get the people who are too set in their ways to do this, but it is much more fun to move on, explore the new, and of course with it there is always some bad, but then again hasn't that always been the case , nothing is ever perfect except maqybe in our memories where we can choose to forget the bad bits.
Move with the times and enjoy life, have a blast.

My dear, I feel your pain. It distresses me to no end to think of where we are headed. Parents have no rights when it comes to disciplining their children, yet they can be carted off to jail for the deeds of the child. Teachers have no rights in the classroom where our children send 1/3 of their day. A teenage girl can get an abortion without her parents' consent, yet the same law that allows that would let her die in an emergency room with a ruptured appendix without her parents' consent to operate. A signed, legal contract is no more binding than a bubble gum wrapper and one can get sued for serving hot coffee. It is frightening to think of where this is all heading.

It's all about control.
Technology is enabling people to monitor and control those weaker than them in a way that has never been possible before and governments (ie. the richest, most powerful people) are using this to harness the workforce and make more money!

PC is the cause of soooo many problems. Along with all the equalities - racial, religous, sex, age, size etc etc etc. It's not even the people that it is aimed at that are complaining - it's all the goody goody's out there. I agree with everything you say. The only problem is we can't go back now.
