I can't help you with the tax rate questions (what does it mean by mills?) but I can help you with the percentages.

Every percentage is a number out of 100. So for Ginger you want to know how much out of one hundred is 200 out of 740. or

200/740 = x/100

so you would do the algebra, multiply both sides by 100, and you would find x.

For Victor, you would add up the amount he spends on food, his car payment, his rent, and his savings, and subtract it from his net income. You divide that remainder into 1240 and do the same thing.

(remainder)/1240 = x/100

**hint: it can never be more than 100%

good luck!

Babygirl, you keep posting your math questions here and are not learning anything. You need to tell your family or your teacher that you have a problem and get a tutor to help you. This is *NOT* doing you any good at all. When the test day comes, you will be stuck in class with no link to YA and no one to answer the questions for you -- THEN WHAT??!

Babygirl,

You may hate math, but you should appreciate it. Without it you would not get a paycheck, your cell phone wouldn't work and your computer you are using to ask these questions would not exist, to name a few applications of math.

The questions you are asking about are very down to earth and I suggest that you might change your attitude about math and maybe you might do better in your math class. A negative attitude will cause negative results. Get more positive, apply yourself, and maybe you will learn to appreciate things you don't really like.
