I had to take the plan b (emergency contraception) a few days ago because the condom we were using didn't work. I took it two hours after it happened (I know you're supposed to do it within 72 hours), and did the second pill 12 hours later like you're supposed to. I guess I'm just wondering...would it be a good idea to take a pregnancy test, just to make sure, and how long should I wait before I do that? I've never had this happen before and I'm not sure about this stuff. Thanks!

Plan B is 89% effective and the earlier taken the better. But there is still a small chance of pregnancy. You should probably ask the doctor who gave you Plan B what to expect cycle-wise (I just don't know whether you're meant to have your period on schedule or what.) You can't get an accurate reading on a pregnancy test until after implantation which takes place 6-12 days after conception. With any luck, you'll get your period before that... but in the meantime, try not to worry. Your chances of not being pregnant are really good.

If you followed the directions, as you say you have, you really don't need to worry about it. However, even the best pregnancy tests from the pharmacy don't work until about 5 days before your period is due.

If you took the pills like you are suppose to you shouldn't even be worried.
