Hitting men is frowned upon, too, I think, but the man will probably be bigger and stronger, and maybe better able to defend himself. Plus, hitting women is wrong in the old fashioned sense!

Well there is definitely a double standard. Men get abused physically more than people realize, I think it is soo sad because the way our society is, the men feel shamed and it strips them of their masculinity....I know because this happened to a dear friend of mine. (one of the sweetest people I know actually) He stayed in the relationship because of his step-daughter, he felt it was the only way he could protect her. Now he's still so ripped apart and broken. It's wrong weather it's a man or a woman being abused....the horrible thing is the shame men feel to the point they wont get help or if they do they get mocked and laughed at. The truth of the matter is that they are such gentle men that they wont hurt their abuser back. very sad! This is a real problem and it just gets ignored. good question!!

Who says it's not frowned upon for a man to hit a man. Certainly not the law.

A bartender didn't like my attitude and told me so... No problem.. Next thing, she spits in my face. Well, I don't care who you are man or woman - noboday has to take that kind of abuse. I was so mad, I cold clocked her and broke her jaw.. There is a dble standard, because when the police came, none of the guys or girls at the bar backed me and I was arrested. I have nothing to lie about - the woman totally started it.. Sometimes life isn't fair. Next time, if there is ever one - I'll have a better stradegy and have my sister kick her *** or wear a mask or something like that.. I settled out of court with her for $1000 bucks, Best grand I ever paid out!

I think this is a great question! Many women want equal everything, BUT not equal consequences. I don't get that!

I'm a woman, BUT if a female hits a guy, HE has EVERY RIGHT TO DEFEND HIMSELF! But, you also have to learn to control your temper... because in most cases you can defend yourself without hitting back. Perhaps restraining them.

I think it should be frowned up for anyone to hit anyone.
Hell these days women beat up their husbands, date rape men in clubs and god knows what else. Equality does not really come in to it - just nasty common people - of both sexes.

It is the same for both sexes its just that domestic abuse on women is more common and I guess not as many men report it as they may be embarrassed. Violence towards any man, woman, child or animal is wrong.

It doesn't matter the millennium. It doesn't matter what feminism imposes. A man that hits a woman is a coward and not a real man.
