Who is the best nhl captain ever or in other words the best leader?
I go with Yzerman.

just a little info yzerman came back from what some believed to be a career ending injury he came back and he played his heart out. yes gretzky was good but yzerman was good too he is in the top ten in goals and assist. Just face it people yzerman gave more to one city than any other sports figure has. no other player even comes close. to what yzerman did.

Yzerman. I won't give 99 reasons, but here's one example--remember the '02 playoffs? He had a really bad knee, but he toughed it out like none other, made huge plays, and scored a point per game. That's a leader.
Reason #2 is that I live near Detroit.

Being from Michigan I favor Stevie, however Alot of people out there say Messier was the greatest captain off all time not only help the great Oiler teams of the 80's but the leading the Rangers to the cup in the 90's.
