I think a good cover should be different from the original, otherwise there's no point. I like 'Satisfaction' by Devo, 'Love is All Around' by Joan Jett, and 'What a Wonderful World' by one of the Ramones. I suppose some of the Beatles' early recordings were covers, and 'Twist and Shout' is a great one.

Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers in 1965. It was recorded by 4 others (Jimmy Young, Les Baxter, Al Hibbler, and Liberace) in 1955. To me though, the Righteous Bros. had the best rendition.
