My mum used 2 swear by a thin film of washing-up liquid on the mirror.
It only lasts for 1 shower/bath.
Re-coat as needed.

The reason the mirror fogs up is because it is of a lower temperature than the water vapor in the air. When the water vapor hits the mirror it condenses, causing the fog. NOTE the water in the air is NOT steam. Steam is water ina gaseous form and you cannot see the gas. What you see is water vapor that has condesnsed to form solid matter suspended in the air

In order to prevent that, the mirror has to be of a higher temperature than the water vapor in the air, or you have to have a continuous flow of water over the surface of the mirror so that the water cannot condense on the glass.

If you have a bathroom exhaust fan, use it. That will suck out all the moist air that condenses on the mirror. Failing that, when you get out of the shower, use a hair dryer on the mirror. This will quickly evaporate the fog off the mirror.

There are some very good answers here, but if you want to be posh, then there are special behind the mirror heater mats you can put. You connect these to an electrical source (e.g. the mirror lights if you have them) and they will keep your mirrors fog free by heating the mirror from behind.

apply a layer of shaving cream, let that sit for a couple of minutes and then clean it with a paper towel. That will prevent the mirror from fogging for up to 3 weeks

If you open a window or turn the exhaust fan on or leave your bathroom door ajar before you turn on the shower, it will help reduce the fog on your mirror.

I'd need to see what type of mirror you have in your bathroom. If you could film yourself in the shower and then film yourself getting out of the shower and standing infront of the mirror then it'd help me to answer this question. Also, if you could jump up and down a bit whilst in the shower then this may also help me! :-)

I never could. About the only thing I could do is run the vent to pull some of the extra moisture out so it didn't fog as badly.
