I can't afford DSL are there any gadgets out there that can let you know when you have a phone call--with dail up. Please only serious answers reply. Sometime I am on computer my Physician calls and I do not get the call until after I hang up.

You can read an article about this at the below link. I'm vaguely remembering that there used to be a gadget for sale that would allow you to get incoming calls while putting the internet connection on a sort of "hold", but I can't find that mentioned on the web. The article at the below link does cover this subject though, and I hope it helps.

If you have call waiting there are modems that will notify you of the second call.

A problem with low cost DSL is that the low price is only for the first year, not all areas are served, and they usually require an expensive long distance package to be purchased with it.

sadly there isn't on ancient dial-up technology. DSL from SBC/ ATT is more affordable now if you have a regular land phone line. It's only $13 bucks a month for basic DSL.

Not sure if I just cannot get to the site (I am at work) or if the site is really down, but Pagoo was always pretty good when I still had Dial-Up. It used to be free too.
