I don't think society puts that much pressure on being pregnant. A lot of people just do want to get pregnant.

It's not all of society, but some family members may miss having a baby around, and of course don't want to have one them self..also some people just want you to experience the same things that they went through...and some people were just raised with generation after generation of it being expected of you. There are a lot more people out in this world that don't want or need children.

Is someone putting pressure on you?? I was just wondering why you would ask that question.. I don't think our society is putting pressure on people but maybe a few people in our society doing it. And if you feel that you are being pressured just remember you make you own decision.

I agree. I think society has too many "norms" that people are expected to follow for too many things. I am pregnant right now, but now all I hear is when are you going to get married. I think people should just live their lives in whatever way makes them happy and if that means no kids and no marriage, then so be it. It's the old fashioned way of thinking to expect everyone to follow the same life path.

They haven't looked ahead very far, have they? We are in for a major shock with world population. Make a decision and stick to it regardless of what others say. But always review it because there is a point, of course, where it becomes mighty difficult biologically to change your mind.

There is no pressure in getting pregnant whatsoever...you just have those who are irresponsible and do not use protection or just do not have sex to prevent pregnancies so they think the best thing to do is abort the baby...in which that is killing the baby. If you do not want babies then keep your legs closed if you are a woman and if you are a man keep it in your pants then that will end abortions altogether.

I think it's just tradition. People just assume we will follow in the steps of our parent, grandparent, great grandparents, and so on. But if that's not what you want, then you have to stand your ground and not do if you don't want. It would be worse to have a child that you didn't completely want than to live you life without offspring and be happy with your choice.

i agree!
families are always asking when kids will
be comin along and all,
well, never!
i dont want to have kids!
and if ppl didn't pressure ppl to have kids
just cuz 2 ppl are married, then we wouldn't
have a huge over-population problem!
just cuz two ppl are together doesn't
mean the next step has to be to have
kids! i want to love what my bf and i
have together instead of changing
our worlds by having kids we dont want.

I agree. I think it's something just hardwired into human nature, to reproduce. It's just sad when people have kids who aren't ready for them, or can't care for them properly, and realize it after the birth. It's always sad to see kids who aren't being cared for and brought up right.
I think people who don't want kids shouldn't be pressured into having them. They are being responsible, and true to themselves, and that's admirable.

I have no kids and I am happy. I married a women who had three kids who never wanted any and they are grown and we are happy. Yes, it is better to not to have kids. When you do all you want in life and then want kids that is the best way. Have kids because you want to and everyone else needs to worry about themselves. scotybe@yahoo.com
