It isnt $47.50 but $4750 -- you misplaced the decimal! ...unless you were talking about 3800p -- but not having mentioned a unit -- simply 3800 times 1.25 is 4750!!

As your formula is written and shows on my video screen, the only way this can be true is if the letters "x's" in between the 3,800 and the $ 1.25 mean

times 0.01 times

such that

3,800 times 0.01 times 1.25 = 47.50

that is because when u times 1.25 with 3,800 u only add 25% because if u only times it by one it would be itself and then add an extra 25% and after that u need to add a decimal point 2 places over

because 1.25 per 1000 is not the same as 3800 x 1.25.
just like 1 dollar per 100 is not the same as 100 x 1, that is 1 dollar per 1, so the 3800 is 1.25, per 1.

Looks like a typo to me. It should be
$1.25/1000 * 3800 = $4.75
