In KENTUCKY the horse farms in the BLuegrass region are the most beautiful region, especially all the little country roads lined with rock fences, board fences, trees and all of the barns with the spires.
There are several other Natural Attractions: Mammouth Cave Nation al Park contains the world's largest cave, Cumberland Falls (near Corbin) is the 2nd largest waterfall in the Eastern US, and the Falls of the Ohio contains the largest exposed fossil bed in the US accross from dnt Louisville...the largest "castle" in the US is located btw Versailles & Lexington, although you can't go in it.

I served in the US Army for thirty years. The most beautiful location I have ever seen is where I currently live in Canyon Lake, CA. However if you want to see them all, you can spend years wandering the US and never see all of its beauty. Beauty changes with the seasons and the eye of the beholder. Some places in California to see, Yosemite National Park, San Francisco fro Coit Tower, The Northern California Coast near Fort Bragg. The Central California Coast near Monterrey, The Southern California Coast near Laguna Beach. Climb Mount Whitney and look north along the highest ridges of the Sierra, its endless.

NORTH DAKOTA
The International Peace Gardens on the
U.S. / Canada border is a spectacular sight.
Another big tourist attraction is the natural
beauty of the Badlands near Medora. This
area shows the history some of the more
prominent early settlers, including President
Theodore Roosevelt during his younger years.
The State Capitol Building in Bismarck and
Ft. Abraham Lincoln near Mandan are also
very interesting sites.
There are numerous other wonderful locations
with lakes, parks, museums, etc. If you are
planning a trip to ND this link might be helpful .......

Clicking on the tabs near top will provide extra details on each specific location.
I salute you for the 21 years military service.
You deserve time to explore all the wonders of the country you defended : )
Enjoy your trips !

Enjoy your retirement! Congrats!
Here in Minnesota the areas that are beautiful include The North Shore of Duluth, the shores and bluffs of the Mississippi River and the St Croix, dividing Minnesota and Wisconie. If you are into wilderness, the Boundary Waters can't be matched. Minnesota is beautiful in the fall and most outstate areas have great viewing. If I could visit only one town in Minnesota, I would go to Red Wing. It is a great town on the Mississippi.

I live in Arizona, of course we have the majestic Grand Canyon. Sedona is one of the most beautiful places in the country. The White Mountains (Globe) offer Indian casinos, plus the mountians are absolutely gorgeous. Those places are all North of Pheonix. As for south, you certainly can't miss Tombstone. Not exactly pretty but historically fun and interesting. Bisbee is a cute old mining town, which by the way is acclaimed to have a haunted hotel The Copper Queen, it also hosts an old mine which they run tours through. If you are there in the summer the mine tour is a must..the temperature in the mine is about 15-20 degrees cooler. Thank you for serving our country, you men and women are to often over looked as such main contributers to our society. I have a soft spot in my heart for all of our soldiers for my husband is a SP in the Air Force. Congratulations to you on your retirement, I hope you have fun in your travels. And again thank you!

Thank you for your service. I live in Oklahoma, which has many, many lakes for fishing and recreation. The Gloss Mountains are also totally unreal. There is also the Great Salt Plain, where you can dig for hourglass selenite crystals. It is one of the only places in the world where you can get them. Beyond that, it is a lot of flat land and grass. If you are wanting to see cities, you can see all two of them: Oklahoma City and Tulsa. In Oklahoma City you can see... cockroaches. Tulsa has some very nice museums and parks and of course the ballet and opera. The summers are rather hot, so I suggest spring or fall.

Here at home, it would be the High Peaks region of the Adirondack Park in Keene Valley, NY. Elsewhere, I would choose Haleiwa on the North Shore of Oahu. I went there frequently while stationed at Schofield Barracks.
