For your own personal gain?

Someone close to me recieved an organ transplant from one of their friends from way back. This friend is known to be somewhat manipulative, and is kinda screwy in the head (lots of drama!)

I believe the friend donated this organ to have a personal hold on the person that is close to me. I only say this because some drama arose, and the so-called friend pulled the "organ card" when confronted about some drama she had participated in.

For example;
"Woe is me"..."I've done so much for you, I gave you an organ"

Just because the friend gave up an organ, does that give her a "Get out of Jail" free card, when she acts stupid and doesn't want to accept the fact that she messed up big time?

If she is messing up don't let her get by with it. If she is going to bring that up then she should not have given up the kidney. She can't get the kidney back so she needs to not be so manipulative.

The gift of life is something to be eternally grateful for. However, if you choose to give this gift, it has to be w/ no strings attached. This is something transplant teams counsel potential donors about. They have a pretty intensive process to qualify you as a donor. This process screens potential donors not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. They really make sure that there is no coercion of ANY KIND going on. With that being the case, they are separate issues and should be treated as such. As long as the person who received the kidney isn't ungrateful. Having received one myself, I doubt they are ungrateful at all.

I am a kidney transplant receipient and would never use the person for personal gain. As with most the scheer fact of gaining a better life would be the greatest reward of all. This person should have given their organ with no conditions what so ever.Shame on them .

When you give up an organ you do it from the heart, not for personal gain. I would do it for anyone. But then I wouldn't expect anything in return. An organ is a gift from someone who cares. God bless.

You need to tell you friend that if the shoe was one the other foot that she wouldn't want someone to act like that to her. Tell her Kay said to calm her nerves and if she don't believe it, show this to her. She shouldn't have given up a organ to anybody and expect something back but lots of love and thankfulness.

no way does giving an organ give her a get out of jail free card. you are supposed to be donating it...you know just because you are nice. that's like donating clothes to a shelter and getting in trouble then saying hey i donated clothes.....big deal who cares you still did something bad.

I know what you are asking, but a kidney transplant has kept my father alive for 20 years. I am grateful to the man who gave him his kidney, regardless of his reasoning.

Yes, if someone of my friends or family needed one. If I would get a kidney from someone like this, I would have it removed from my body and would dump it in the trash can, because that's where its coming from. Move far away!

I would give almost anyone I know my kidney, but I wouldn't expect anything in return, except for a thank you.
