Thy cycle produces an egg that sends the egg down the fallopian tubes where it attaches to the lining of the uterus. Two chemicals released by the brain FSH and LH cause the lining of the uterus to thicken and the egg will start to grow, if fertilization with sperm occurs. If this does occur, the egg releases progesterone, which signals the brain not to shed the lining of the uterus, hence pregnancy.
