Magnesium is the metal in Chlorophyll.

There are other metals like sodium, calcium, potassium.

All of these are in compounds.

For botany we learned CHOPKNSMgCaFe
These are the main ones
CHO are obvious for anything living Ca is for the stomata opening/closing, Mg is in the chlorophyl center, similar to Iron in our hemoglobin. The rest are just the other major components.
