Hitler thought he was god, mentally unstable.
Dr Hutton, of the Neurology Research and Education Center in Texas used records from officials who treated Hitler in 1944 and 1945 that described him as having lost "his mental flexibility".

RE: Hitler & Mustard gas (#9493)

In attempting to account for Hitler's mental state one aspect that should be considered is the long-term effects of mustard gas poisoning that Hitler suffered during WWI. Preliminary studies of Iranian gassed by Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war may indicate statistically significant changes in mental function

http://www.chronicillnet.org/PGWS/tuite/IRMED/Iran007.htm

just a few good examples that he may have been at one time. possible physical mental illnesses may have been the problem.

Did the mustard gas poisoning effect an already unstable personality by permanently altering Hitler's biochemistry to edge him toward manic depression ( and suicidal ideation when he was in a trough as with the Putsch, Geli Raubal's death and ultimately in his Fuhrerbunker in 1945 ) ? He certainly gives evidence of megalomania and extreme rage which points to manic phase behavior. I'm not certain if this is even an answerable question but I think evidence of modern gassing patients may point in this direction

There you go many theories:-)

Hitler was a great leader that pulled Germany out of third world status, after WWI, and created one of the greatest super powers the world has ever seen. Some believe he was a leader of chance, meaning he was in the right place (after the war) at the right time. Others think he was flat out a brilliant economist, general, and persuasionist that could "get things done". Whatever you believe, the German people needed a strong leader and he fit the bill.

But.... He was also one of the most vile human beings ever to live, persecuting (and experimenting on) people based on religion and color. I cannot stress enough how disturbing he was. I credit his ability to resurrect and lead a country to greatness, but that's it. He then became possessed with the destruction of any human that did not fit the mold and that is pure evil.

I believe he thought he was a good person, following what he believed to be a "cleansing" of the planet, a creation of a "Christian" superior race. Ultimately, He was either severely mentally ill or completely possessed by the addiction of power.

Don't all humans think they are good at heart? Maybe even at one time he wasn't so bad. It's what he became that we judge him by because he was so awful. I really don't think his psychological profile is all that different from any other sociopathic individual who justifies himself at every turn rather than accepting responsibility for actions which prove to be disastrous. I have met plenty of people who call themselves good people yet given the chance they would destroy an entire race of people in the blink of an eye. One has to ask oneself, if I had a button which would instantly destroy anyone or any group of people would I push that button? After 9-1-1 I would have killed every arab...now I see it a little differently...there is good and bad in all people...just more bad in some than others. Ask a world war 2 vet if there was ever a time he hated the Germans or the Japanese so badly that he wouldn't have been happy to completely eradicate them. Hitler isn't that hard to understand, but he sure is hard to justify when one looks at the big picture, as we see it now through the virtue of history and hindsight.

Yes he thought he was a good person. He was trying to create a higher breed of Arians by forbidding them to mate with other races. Sort of like breeding horses to create race champions. His downfall was arrogance and extreme nationalism. He was so convinced that the Germans were a superior race. Strange that each race thinks that it is superior to all others.

HITLER DIDN'T THINK ANything of himself.. all he cared about was power. He believed that what he was doing was right and brought forth entire Germany to follow his delusional mind. His leadership is what lured and brainwashed his followers. He was a strong leader, very outspoken and also was retarded.

I don't think the question should be whether or not he thought he was a good person, rather it should be whether he cared he was a good person or not. Evil people are generally conscious of what they are doing but they don't care how horrible it is as long as they are doing/getting what they want.

it depends alot which angle you might want to see him, and what "good" you are talkijng about. It might be true to say that he is a determined man, he has this vision and he will fight for it (well, he did acheive it).. so, some people might admire him for it.

However, he killed 6 million Jews... dats cruel..and I might not think he is good...in this way...

He felt that what he was doing was good for the German society. He thought he was so powerful that no one could question him or stop him.
