That incident was funny, yet sad at the same time. A pity to see Zizou bow out in such a manner.
On the whole I enjoyed the World Cup, but it was nowhere near as good as Japan/Korea 2002.

I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms. I've just been on the BBC website and viewed the matches all over again.
When Italy won - that was just the best feeling in the world.
I've been supporting Italy since Italia 90 and have been through all the heartbreak of the last 16 years, so to finally win was just amazing.
Although what happened with Zidane was regretful and Materrazi should not have said what he did to him.
Well done Italy!

I love the World Cup. I definately went through a withdrawl when it was over even though I was estatic Italy won. Kinda wish I had recorded the games so I could go back and relive all the best moments.
As far as the headbutting thing goes, it was completely uncalled for and Zidane was an idiot for going out the way he did 10 minutes before the end of overtime.

I felt terrible, I felt like crying when Zidane was given a red card, and I went out of the room because I just didn't want to watch anymore. Then I came back for the penalty shootout, and I had such a bad feeling about it, same bad feeling I had before the Germany vs Italy match, and England vs Portugal match as well, I sensed at the last minute something would go wrong. And it did...then I couldn't watch anymore and went to my room and cried. It felt like everything had turned out wrong, and it was all so unfair and such awful luck. But Zidane will always be a legend no matter what, and I have even more respect and admiration for him now. I wish things had been different, and sometimes I go back in my mind and turn back time and imagine things differently, imagine the outcome I had hoped for, but of course, what is done is done, and nothing can change it now. It was an awful World Cup for me, many, many tears...looking forward to 2010....

Maybe RODDYRODDY does not remember that italy was kicked out with penalty kicks in Italy '90,and from France in France'98.Italy lost a world cup final against Brazil in USA'94.
Than a golden goal punished Italy in Japen/Cora2002.And remember how France won the European Cup in Belgium/Holland2000,scoring a goal at 94'minute and than scoring a golden goal.
I think that italian people desrved the victory and they can celebrate as long as they think is necessary.

I love the world cup, very entertaining! Its a shame about Zidane tho he did deserve to win the player of the tournament. But the worse had to be when Rooney (of England) stamped on that man's balls and his own Man United team mate Ronaldo (of Portugal) got him sent off. The ULTIMATE betrayal!! He got his punishment as he was meant to win young player instead it went to Lukas Podolski of Germany (who was brilliant the time). Overall this year was OK it was in shambles because of the referee's. They caused alot of controversy with their tactics. As I remember in one game 4 PEOPLE were sent off and in another game one guy got two yellow cards and still wasn't sent off until the referee showed a red card (third time round)... surely two yellows equal a red card?!
What I totally disagree with is Italy getting the world cup, it should have been France. But they got their punishment when their league is in shambles due to 'match fixing' and choosing 'referee's to favour their team'.
Anyways now I look forward to Euro 2008.
