Are you serious??? Do you know how animals are killed for their fur so that it doesn't get damaged? Would you like to have a red hot poker stuffed into your anus? No, I am not threatening you! Don't press on the abuse flag! That is how many of the fur animals get killed so that the fur is undamaged. Horrific, isn't it?
People in the U.K. are educated enough to know that it takes 10,000 dumb animals to make a coat, but only 1 dumb animal to wear it!
That was a slogan from an animal rights group years and years ago, and I never forgot it!
Synthetic fur is so well made now, no-one in their right minds would want to kill an animal for the real thing. That fur belongs to its rightful owner and shouldn't be coveted.
If you really really want a real fur coat, wait until your pet dies then skin it ... could you do that? Probably not. So why kill a living animal for its beauty?

Well why do you have to wear fur when there are perfect substitues. fake fur looks and feels exactly the same so why kill a living thing for the sake of fashion? It's discusting. It doesn't make a difference whether the animal was raised for this purpose or not. I can't get my head around how we can actually raise something, breed it, just to kill it so we can wear it on our jackets or whatever. I do think it's pointless killing animals for food, but then again we've been doing that since the beginning so it's obviously stuck, and even though we have millions of other protien sources I doubt very much that will ever change.

Well, i think you have raised some good points and i think u may have annoyed quite few people too.
I DO NOT wear and fur (unless of the fake kind of course), however, my nan left me with an incredible fur coat and a stunning handbag when she passed away. I keep it kept away as a memory and wouldn't think about parading them and upsetting a majority of people, UK or not UK. This is for the simple reason times have changed!

If you think about it the only reason people thought of wearing fur was to keep them warm and protected in the first place, we have evolved to create man made fabrics that do the same thing, we should therefore have no excuse to wear fur!
I am addicted to fashion and understand, for some, it is pleasurable to wear fur in the same way, some of us love to eat meat. Once again, because of man, vegetarians can now enjoy Quorn etc.

Hope you get my point. Excellent question raised!

Do you see an animal wearing a human to keep warm.
We are able to produce so many wonderful Faux Fur there is no reason to kill animals.

Animals such as cows chickens etc are for people to eat.
If you go back to the day of the cave dwellers they needed to keep warm so used the skins and everything else from the animal.
Today is just vanity look I am wearing an Arctic fox , well to me the coat looks a thousand times better on the animal.

I never buy or wear fur. (but then again i am a vegetarian)

maybe you should do some research on how badly animals are treated for fur / meat etc. every single day, hundreds od thousands of animals and poulty live in atrocious conditions, some are transported thousands of miles in ships / trucks, cramped in samll spaces, suffering the misery to be killed for their skin and meat.

cows are artificially inseminated and when the calf is born, it is soon killed for meat - that way the cow keeps giving milk and the calf's meat goes on sale, the skin is stuffed and kept near the cow so she keeps milking thinking her baby is near her ! when the cow comes off her 'milking' stage, she is killed too for meat and leather.

i guess fur is such a big deal because fur from rare animals is a novelty. and if you dont discourage that then those animals will become extinct.

i agree with you to an extent that if people are against fur than they should be against eating meat.

Because killing other animals for food happens all the time in the wild, but you never see animals killing other animals just so that the animal can wear its fur. Its like someone killing you so that they could make your skin into a coat or a scarf just so they look nice. Also fake fur looks just as nice if not better.

It just doesn't make sense to me to kill and animal just for the skin, even if that's the reason the animal was raised. Killing animals for food is something different. The majority of the animal is used for something. Take a cow. The different cuts of meat are eaten. The skin is used for leather or suede. Probably the bones are even used for something. But just to kill an animal for the skin is senseless. I'd rather go faux if I wanted something with fur.

Killing animals for food is one thing but so that you can ponce about in a fur coat? Ponce about in something else and lets leave the animal kingdom in peace as much as we can. By the way how many cows, chickens, or rabbits come to that have you killed lately?

Its unethical, and cruel! Animals suffer great pain and distress! We in the UK, do not accept real fur. My advice to you is to not wear real fur,you may find yourself in some difficulties.
Eating food is a necessity, killing for the luxury of fur is not. !!! Its not acceptable in the UK, or any civilised country for that matter!

its just the fad of the current culture there

cultural fads don't make sense, so don't try to make sense of it

it is like the anti-SUV sentiment in the U.S. (although the UK anti-fur thing is much more universal and more severe)

sure an SUV is inefficient and thus contributes to depleting energy supplies, pollution, and global warming, but lots of other things could be considered more wasteful, like perhaps a heated swimming pool, and there is no anti-heated-swimming pool contingent

furthermore, an SUV that normally carries 4 or more people, is more effiecient than an advanced hybrid

bottom line is, that fur in politically incorrect in the UK and will be for several years until the cultural fad swings elsewhere

it makes no sense

you can't do anything about it
