We got our marriage license. Fine. We got married about two weeks ago. The priest took our marriage license with him and the certificate he was supposed to complete and told us he would mail it back to us. He just emailed me telling me he sent the license into our county and we need to pick it up from them. WTF? I think he screwed this up badly. We are in DuPage Co, IL

What about the keepsake certificate...he sent that to the county (that's who gave it to us and said we keep it.) I don't want to pay again for another keepsake!

easy does it.
Don't panic, you are married. as an official of the "court" he is required to file the marriage license at the county. You can contact the county clerk to obtain a copy including the Ceremonial certificate. Normal procedures..

The reason he mailed it to the county is that they need to put it on record. The same exact thing happened to my husband and I. You go to the courts office and get a copy. It is very simple.

I would go to a matrimonial lawyer and ask them. Take a print out of your email from the "priest" with you and any other documents you have regarding the wedding. There is a lot of unlicenced people doing ceremonies for a quick buck out there.
