Equity - what is fair and balanced (right, Fox?) There will never be Equality in the world and there shouldn't be. As humans we have different skills, talents, values, levels of maturity so if we treat everybody in the world "equal" - no one's better or worse - then we are not being fair.

What do you mean ... in a relationship ... or in cultural groups?

Relationships should always search for love. "Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other people's sin, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes." . This basic definition of love applied to a relationship between man and woman would make both equality and equity obsolete. Even within society, should this principal of love be practiced, then equality and equity would be void.

However, since we are meer imperfect humans Eqaulity is what should be a baby step to reaching the loving grace that Corinthians teaches us. Eqaulity is "The fact of being equal." Certainly, the differences in man and woman make this impossible since each has strenghts and weaknesses that oppose each other, they can at least strive for equality in certain basic common grounds mutually agreeded upon.

When there is an unfair balance in equality that cannot be corrected without intervention, then law and equity is needed to assiste the weaker party (in today's culture favors the woman). Equity is "decrees directing someone either to act or to forbear from acting" as when a woman goes to a court and requests a "Restraining Order" <2>... or when a Human resources office directs an employee to stop showing pornography in the office.

Equality in their relationship and equity in there home:-)In law, the term equity refers to a particular set of remedies and associated procedures. These equitable doctrines and procedures are distinguished from "legal" ones.
so 1 equality x 2 equity = 3x the chance of a successful partnership right?:-)

Both. We are still working on it. Fear stops or retards progress if we let it. Peace.
