Windows happens to define certain keystrokes that work the same way in all applications. Just about everyone knows that Alt+Ctrl+Del interrupts the operating system, but most people don't know that Alt+F4 closes the current window. So if you had pressed Alt+F4 while playing a game, the game window would have closed.

- James , Alt+F4 is a common keyboard shortcut in Microsoft's
Windows operating system.
- Alt+F4 Quits the current application
- For example : If you are reading this answer to your question on this window, now if you press Alt key simultaneously with F4(function key) this particular window(in other words - application) will close.
- Remember : If there is no window or application in focus when u press Alt+F4 , your computer takes it as an order to shut down your computer.

Alt+F4 closes the current program or shuts down Windows. The monkey is probably in your head.

when you press alt+f4, it is the same as going to file - close or pressing the X icon, it is a shortcut to close the program you are on, and if you press alt+f4 when no program is open, it will show you the shutdown menu
