If they get to socialise with others by playing games and having other activities like Ballet, music lessons or even ball Games the home Scholled kids have the best of both worlds otherwise the only thing a home schooled child lacks is social interaction if you can cap this problem they are in great hands

I don't know a lot about home schooling, but I would think that kids who are taught that way lose the opportunity to learn how to interact with other kids (all kinds of other kids, the good and the bad). My opinion is that such social skills need to be developed as an individuals develop rather than be taught academically at a more advance age. Maybe parents take that into consideration and see that their youngsters are exposed to group settings. But my impression of people who chose to home school their children is that part of the incentive is to protect them from undesirable influences. If that's the case, it leave kids unprepared to cope with such influences when they have to face the world alone.

All children lack something that other children have it does not made whether they were home schooled or not. I do think that a child that is home school gets more one on one than a public school child. That does not mean they lack something though.

They miss out on the culture that goes with being in a large educational environment ... but on the other hand, public school students lack the attention and specifically targetted teaching that home schooled children experience and benefit from.

Social skills. So many children that are home schooled are clueless when it comes to interactions with their peers.

I have nothing against homeschooling, but kids need to be around other kids their own age in order to learn how to interact with people that are not family members.

The other night on "wife swap", there was a 15 year old boy who had been home schooled his whole life and you could tell he was a social misfit in the making. He was also way too naive for his own good. His parents were doing him a great disservice by keeping him isolated.

It depends on the parents of the children and why they are being home schooled. As long as the parents have them in many social activities, then they generally end up far better off than those children that go to school. Most home schooled kids do very well in life....as a percentage, far better than those who go to normal schools. Also, most home schooled kids do go to regular schools when they reach high school.....some adapt well, some do not, but that goes back to whether the parents kept them actively involved in social activities.

I was home schooled from fifth grade though highschool. It was the best thing my parents could have done for me. Also, I was fortunate enough to be in program that included homeschoolers from other townships and counties... As far as lacking, No... I had a part time job and met other teenagers that way, as well as the homeschoolers I had Friday Enrichment classes with. For those that know me, they'd never guess I was homeschooled, and if anything, I am more myself because of it. I never had that pressure of conforming to fit in. In the end... I highly recomend home schooling

Definitely human interaction. They don't get to be around kids like the rest do. I saw a show about a group of home schooled kids that get together every year, and its a little weird. They are for the most part strange kids.
Not to say everyone is like that, that is home-schooled. I am sure there are exceptions.
