Cloth, Cloth, Cloth, the only way to go.
Cheaper than disposables, don't clog the landfills, don't put plastic, paper and chemicals next to your baby.
There are a number of different ways to fold them, either triangle, butterfly, rectangle so it's a personal preference as to which way. You lay it out, put the baby on it and pull it up between the baby's legs just like a diposable. You can pin it or now they have other fasteners you can use. You can buy all in ones that have the waterproof cover already on the diaper. You can buy pocket diapers which is a waterproof cover that you slip a cloth diaper into and snap on.
Cloth doesn't leak as much as long as you are diligent about keeping your baby's diaper changed like it should be.
I wouldn't use anything else.

It is cheaper but it requires doing alot more laundry. If you have your own washer and dryer this isn't much of a problem, but if you're like me and you have to go to the laundromat, it's not worth it. I have enough laundry to do without adding cloth diapers to the pile! Your other option with using cloth diapers is to hire a diaper laundry service, which means that someone comes and takes all your dirty diapers to be washed and supplies you with fresh ones a couple times a week. But this costs money as well, and depending on where you live, it may cost less to just buy disposables. As for leakage, I think that the cloth diapers are almost as effective as disposables when put on correctly, but you do have to change your baby more often, because the cloth diapers do not hold as much. Hope this helps! :-) By the way, you can always find coupons for disposable diapers, in magazines, the newspaper, and in all the "junk" mail you get from all the baby companies when you're a new mom. Also look for sales at places like Target and Wal-Mart. You can save money and still use disposables, and it's alot more convenient. (Just my opinion.) :-)

Well I have kids and cloth diapers are no fun.. Yes it will save you money but they do leak and are a pain.. there are 2 types of cloth diapers... ones you will need pins for the other are a newer model that have Velcro on the sides..with both you will also want to get some rubber pants to go over them.. so it doesn't leak threw.. they are allot more in maintenance.. you should be OK with cloth if you have allot of time to keep up with them .. laundry...you use them basically just like the disposable.. I attempted to do the cloth thing but it's not worth it..Good luck with what ever you decide...

By the time that you buy the cloth diapers, pins, and plastic pants to keep the clothes dry I don't think its all worth it. Then you have the issue of having to launder them. Sometimes they need to be soaked. I have a 3 month old, disposable diapers are the way to go I think. You have enough laundry to wash with baby clothes, ect. Why add to it? On the flip side, cloth diapers are cost effective if you can not afford to buy the disposables. The supplies with cloth diapers are re-usable so there is no re-occuring costs but you have the added laundry of washing them all the time so that you have enough diapers.

I guess to save money it might be worth it to use cloth. But it would be alot easier to not use them.I know I wouldn't have the time to be soaking them and cleaning them all the time. I would rather just dispose of the diaper. Even if you are out and your baby has a bowel movement they would be awkward to change do you keep the smelly diaper. I guess to each there own and if you can do it why not. Goodluck!

I love using cloth diapers! We buy all of our diapers from www.lilbunz.com and I knit wool soakers for covers. A lot of people use PUL (polyurethane laminate) for covers, but I love wool. It is breathable and super cute! Also not scratchy like everyone seems to think. Check out www.mothering.com/discussions They have a really great cloth diapering forum over there.
Have fun with the baby!

cloth diapers can be reused. your would purchase the clother diapers along with safety pins which can possibly stick the baby if you are not careful while changing if the baby is a mover. While it saves you money it is also a task.
Disposable diapers are easy they use them you toss them and go on with life.
you make your decision.

My mother insisted on using cloth for my baby brother (I was 11 at the time), and it was a pain in the @SS to clean the poop out of them!!! And let's not forget the pins and the stabbings (both you AND the baby!). Plus you had to use plastic pants over the cloth to avoid leakage. AND, if we were out someplace, we had to take a plastic bread bag everywhere we went (because back then they didn't HAVE ZipLoc's!) and put the poop-filled, pee-soaked RAG into the bag and haul it around with us till we got home!
Factor in the initial expense of buying them, the liners (if you need them), the plastic pants, pins, laundry -- time/effort/soap/bleach/etc, and they're damned expensive!
NO THANK YOU!!
I used disposables for my son (you can find off-brand ones fairly inexpensively at Wal*Mart, Target, etc or get a membership to Costco/Sam's Club), and I was never more happy to deal with just taking that stinky thing off and throwing it away!!!

YOU DEFINATELY DONT WANT TO GO THERE!They are mostly a headache,They are not cheaper in the long run, when you weigh out all their faults.like for instance, always washing then, when you have a newborn or infant so much time has to be focused on them, you dont need the added distraction.Second they can cause alot of leakage and rash.I would discourage the use of cloth diapers,i have 3 children and my first i tried on her
it wasn't worth it.
