On the other side the wording is : ONE PENNY PAYABLE AT BRISTOL-SWANSEA-LONDON. Theres a crest on this penny: A ship-A man-A castle.
Could someone enlighten me as to what this coin is and what it might be worth

It's probably a token issued by a company to its workers instead of legal currency.
They were paid this way so they could only spend their wages in the company's own shops.
I don't think they are worth a great deal as they were very common.

the inscription is degraded Latin, sorry lack of a better/apt description: the conguation is wrong. I would take the coin to a reputable dealer, tell them you want insured for theft. then you will receive an almost accurate estimation of your coin's worth. but, you will have to pay. sorry, tried to translate the Latin, but would only have failed, a dealer could take historical context into account

Go to PCGS.com and submit your question to them. Pacific Coast Grading Service is THE premier grading company in the U.S. If they don't know, no one does. Luck!
