I am a single mom with children that are defiant. The dads are not in thier lives and I feel like my boys are out to get me. I am doing everything that I am supposed to do and boys still don't listen.

Read up on some age appropriate parenting skills. The fact that they don't have a father figure in their lives might make them somewhat resentful, but should not make them disrespectful. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to re-train them to be respectful. If they are teens, it might just be an age thing, though you may want to straighten it out if you can before it gets worse.

Good luck.

take some parenting classes, but them in children therapy, or family therapy where u can attend to.. or why not contact a big bro program for ur sons..

as for the deadbeats if they did for their kids then they wouldn't be considered deadbeats now would they be? take him to court for child support and visitations.. speak to the father if u can and let him know that the children need him and his influence, let him know that they r defiant and that he needs to teach them how to be young men even if he wasn't one and see what he says...

if he doesn't say anything continue and take him to court...

I know exactly what you mean. I am also a single mother of three beautiful daughters. Their dads are not in their lives either. My girls test my buttons all the time. I just stay firm and let them know that I mean business. They know their limits with me. Just stay firm and let them know who's boss. Good luck.
