First of all, and with no offense meant you're in the wrong category, unless your Q directly relates the the Geography of Houston.

If I had to pick a CITY in Texas, to visit, hang out in, even reside in, it would be Austin. It's one of my all time faves in all the world actually.

GOOD is relative, subjective, and open to interpretation and personal opinion,,,which is what you'll get here.

It's a large, busy city, with as many blessings and faults as any other. The geography of Texas is as varied in scope as many other locations in the USA, and one can either enjoy that, or hurry to get away from it.

Houston has a nice fine arts/museum district, a lot of good restaurants (Asian Cuisine especially), good shopping, and some decent attractions in the area (Galveston Island, Astrodome, Reliant Stadium, NASA, etc.). You should also be sure to stay in the central/west areas of the city because the east and southeast areas are very industrial and polluted.

I lived there for a few years, and I didn't like it. It was very polluted, humid and hot, with the largest cockroaches around. The only two good things about it were the University of Houston and it's closer to Galveston. For me, that's it.
