"enemies of the state"?

At this point, it is a great idea, but give it another 5 years. With the right spin, most people will go for it, they will probably accept it as part of the war on terrorism.

Yes I do, and I think that most people will be OK with that. I for one am not. I think that ever since 9/11 there is a feeling that our rights should be stripped away in order for us to be "safe".

So could anything be bastardized by the government, and many things have, especially the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. FYI, most of that was done prior to Bush ever running for office.

What's your solution? To abandon the system in case it can be used for purposes you don't agree with? After all, what's a few children, or a few dozen compared to the outrage you will feel about a percieved abuse of power?

I wish you were more outraged at the actual abuses of power and violations of Constitutional limits and violations of our rights that have occurred over the past 100 years.

Yes of course... They'll remember you typing this... be afraid, be very afraid.

We should abolish the Amber alert system, and the news (since they broadcast "stories about people and criminals" on there, and newspapers, since the government could bully lies into it, and radio, and the Internet, and books, and talking... since all of the above could be used by the government to track "enemies of the state".

No one cares about corruption of government. They are more worried about temporary safety. Like any system is going to stop murderers, child abductors or rapists.

We need the citizens of the U.S. to start disciplining and protecting themselves. The government simply cannot do it for us.

Also, to all you other people...when they start loading us into civilian safety areas, and your children are dying of all sorts of odd diseases and bird flu, don't expect anyone to feel sorry for you.

Sure it could. We can only hope the officials we elect have a thread of good and decency in them and it never comes to that.

All though kiddie touchers and kidnappers are enemies of the state.

And it could save the life of yet another abused child. You decide the greater evil.

you think it may be like that until you loose your child and the system works for you and saves a life, then you might look at it differently
