For replacement parts for most makes of airbrushes...talk to Coast Airbrush in California...this company deals in nothing but airbrush. If they don't have the part, chances are they can come up with a fix for you.
Daggers and dots are a great way to learn control with an airbrush and help steer you away from "balls of death" (quote from Mickey Harris). They can, however, get really boring. Try doing "ladders" for more basic practice work (two vertical lines, then connect them with horizontal lines). This exersize (also boring) helps you stop and start precisely. Grab a circle template, make a circle. "render" it...meaning, pick a light source, shade in the shadows on the 'sphere', & create your drop shadows. Practice 'filling in' and area, for instance...for a very black square, you'd start misting paint horizontally, vertically,
diagonally in each direction until you have an even tone overall.
Practice fades...either monochromatic, or colorshifts.
Airbrush action (sold at coast also) produces some decent dvd's and videos for learning airbrushing techniques. I recommend Michael Cacy's "cheap tricks and special effects" highly. Don't look at him too closely though, he hadn't had any sleep when they shot this, lol.

OK I don't specialize in airbrushing but I'd like to help while you find stronger tips: 1. duck-tape, it fixes everything! 2. cut out images in paper or films of plastic and you can get quicker and clear edge images this way. I saw people using this concept to do images on peoples cheeks. It was quick and fun :-)
