My 2006 Mosby's Drug Consult book says there are no adverse food interactions with synthroid.
The big deal with taking synthroid is to take it at the same time, every day to maintain the correct hormone level in your body.
Also, it is fine to crush it up, if you want, it doesn't change it...
take care!

If I understand the question correctly....you are already taking Effexor and Synthroid? That being said, they both have many side effects. If you take Synthroid too late in the day(should be taken an hour before you eat breakfast), it can cause some insomnia. As far as Effexor, it too has insomnia listed as a possible side effect. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor/s, and decide what to do.... Please do NOT add another medication even over the counter, to help you sleep until you have talked with your doctor/s. No problem with crushing the pill and the orange juice, just make sure you get all of the medication, that is a whopping big dose of synthroid so you must need it.

Yes, orange juice is fine. Avoid soy-containing suplements and walnuts. A high-fiber diet also interferes with Synthroid
