It's 'telepathic' -- but I kinda like 'telephatic' too.

Well, people communicate non-verbally in lots of ways, but if you mean psychically, then, no. No one who's ever studied it has been able to find anything. When people who claim to be psychic are tested, they never do better than chance (often worse).

Re: the example given above about thinking of calling, and that person calls you. You notice this case because it SEEMS spooky. But what of all the times you think of calling each other and the other doesn't call? Out of all the times you think of calling, some will end with them calling you -- by chance. (Also, chances are higher when you haven't talked for longer than usual, and at "good times to call" times.)

You'd have to record all of the times you think of calling and then see whether they call then more often that chance would predict.

If you do an Internet search for "The Amazing Randi" you can find out a lot more about all this stuff (from the skeptics' perspective). He offers millions of dollars for any psychic that can tell him what's under his bed. No one ever has won that or any other of his prizes.

If you get to know someone well, your unconscious mind as well as your conscious thoughts come to recognise their patterns of behaviour at a very intricate level. The sudden feeling that they have just read your thoughts, or that you have just predicted something they were going to do is a result of your 'offline' processing forming some kind of connection between subtle cues from the environment and the knowledge already stored in the brain. You start behaving as if telepathically. Given that twins have had so much similar experience, it could account for their heightened 'telepathic' skills.

I would say there is though the scientific amongst us will have some other reason for it, many a time my hubby and I say something just as the other is saying the same thing or we finish each others sentences, maybe that's because were very close I don't know, but I can also get my dog to come over to me without saying anything to her, honestly.

yes. why is this my answer? twins. i have twin sisters and 2 sets of twins aunts. and its actually odd b/c all they have to do is look at eachother and know exactly what they are thinking...or...for example. my 2 sisters (sami and katti) both snowboard. sami was on a completely different side of the mountain then katti. sami, fell and broke her arm. katti instantly "felt" something and knew sami was hurt. she told my dad, and sure enough, sami was(she broke her arm)...and more has happened...but i don't feel like typing.

dont know, however if you are very close to a person you can normally know what they're thinking, how they're going to react to something before they even say or do it. sometimes even say the same thing at the exact same time(as is the case of me and my siblings)
