I've never heard of the tonsils "poisoning" the body. I'm 36 and I still have mine. I used to get tonsillitis at least twice a year when I was a kid and most of the time it turned into strep throat, but my doctor didn't think removing my tonsils was necessary. He said I'd outgrow it and I did - I think I've had tonsillitis twice in the last twenty years. I do get laryngitis and bronchitis ever couple of years, which I never used to get, but I don't worry about it. I'm not sure how old you are, but I'd suggest talking to your doctor about your options. I really don't think they remove tonsils like they used to unless there is a serious problem. Good luck!

No they cannot poison you. They are actually there to help decrease the amount of dirt, debris, bacteria etc etc that goes down your throat & into your system. If you have chronic tonsillitus then talk to your doctor about having them removed. If you over the age of 12 then they tend to be leary about it but will do it under those circumstances. It is suppsoed to be really painful. Good luck.
