My daughter dosen't believe toppess dresses were designed in the 1960's, does anyone know a webpage where I can find evidence

They were probably related to the first topless swimsuit designed by Rudy Gernrich in the 1960's. I think I saw such a picture once...it had only two straps from the waist to the shoulders, and the boobs and back were completely bare.

I am actually old enough to remember the topless dress craze. It was not just a skirt. It would be a dress which stopped just under the bust, leaving the breasts naked, but possibly with straps. It was a craze for quite a while but eventually died out.

a topless dress---that would be a skirt. and women wore those way before the 1960's.
if you are talking about strapless..that's a different story entirely.

Not only in the 60s. During the Victorian or Elizibethian age(not sure which) it was a popular style to have one or both breasts exposed by your dress. Also, the greeks did that a lot with togas.

Topless dress would be a skirt. maybe you mean a backless or halter neck dress.
