Basically China hates Japan because they still hold a grudge of the Japanese war when Japan tried taking over Asia. The Japanese did very brutal things in which they do not mention in their History Books. China (& Korea) is upset that the History they are teaching the Japanese children is inaccurate and hides the brutality of the Japanese during that time.

And if PM Koizumi visit Yasukuni shrine, they protest against Japan every year.
And the tons of Japanese soldiers' name were in the Yasukuni shrine.
(but it is not a grave. There are no bone, not cremains. Only soldiers' name)
And Korea follow China.

Probably the shrine reminds them about the past tragedy of the war time. Because the names of "Class A crimes" are included.

And China and Korea say that all Asia, including the nations in the South Pacific Ocean, protest to this visiting Yasukuni shrine.

Some of those leaders or ambassadors also visited and worshiped at the Yasukuni.
eg.Myamma, Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, New Guinea, Tonga, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Palau.
Tibet as well.
Also, India and Indonesia express understanding of the Yasukuni matter in the past.

China and Korea says Japan don't apologize about the war. But this is also not true.

Today only China and Korea(N and S.Korea) protest about Yasukuni as a nation.

Yasukuni shrine for Japanese, is like the Arlington National Cemetery. There are not only Japanese names but also Korean and Taiwanese, and tons of "unknown" as well.
For Japanese, even "class A crimes" are not special anymore. Cos they were already judeged to death.
Today Yasukuni is the place to pray peace.

Japan basically don't hate and don't against China. Only China take that pose as a diplomatic game.
