Hi All

BB's Pete has been banned from pre watershed terrestrial television because he has Tourettes and cannot stop himself swaering. I think that this is clearly disability discrimination as his profanity is a result of his condition. I firmlt beleive that TV producers could use this as an opportunity to educate and entertain viewers.

What do you guys think?

Thanks.

For sure its not his fault that he suffers from tourettes, Why can they not appologise for the swearing as some people will still be offended. I feel that they sould just use there heads and let people know there maybe some swearing in it, and then it is up to the viewer whether or not they wish to watch it. PETE TO WIN

He isn't banned from daytime TV as such, just LIVE daytime TV. The agents and producers have aren't too worried about the problem, it just means pre-recording interviews. The swearing doesn't offend me, but it would offend a lot of people if he was on kids tv saying w*nkers and c*nt. (People probably don't realise he uses the 'c' word a lot but even that gets cut or bleeped on BB, w*nkers is fine tho apparently)!

As for the person asking why it was called Tourette Syndrome, have a look at wikipedia, link below. I've also included a list of famous people you may not have realised had it. The page mentions a groundbreaking documentary that was shown in 1989 called 'John's Not Mad'. It's amazing the amount of kids that went to school the next day and tried to get away with swearing at the teacher, claiming they'd suddenly developed Tourettes!

I didn't know he'd been banned, I thought they just bleeped his swearing bits out. That is why BB live isn't actually live....there's a 15 minute delay while they censor stuff out. The amount of swearing they ALL do, I'm surprised there's anything left to show after it's been censored.
I can see where you are coming from, but I can also see where the producers are coming from re. the watershed. Maybe they think they are doing their bit towards anti-discrimination by having him in the show in the 1st place.

I was talking about the very same thing last night. Yes I agree he shouldn't be on a curfew as his affliction needs to be shown to all ages in order to educate them so he's not just seen to be a source of amusement amongst the "yoof" of today. hopefully he will explain about Tourettes during interviews so people have a better understanding.

the producers of the show knew what they were going to get by havin a tourettes sufferer in the house. what did they think would happen? as soon as the camera was on him, he'd be miraculously cured? it's a bit too late to be worried about petes potty mouth now don't you think? oh well, roll on friday!

Educate and entertain? That is very Barnum and Bailey - and disgusting. Tourrettes isn't a freak show.

I agree, Big Brother should be banned from all TV, with or without bad language
