The question could be about any country, but was I concerned with the US ... good point. Don't know about other countries, but the US has long been lacking in education with about half of the people at about 5th/6th grade level ... one reason we are losing jobs to other countries, but the big reason is lower cost. Not in favor of welfare with out work. We should be conservative with our money and liberal with developing our people ... the real strength of the country.

I think you've identified the problem with our government. The political parties generally pander to their district or state and form alliances with other politicians who are doing the same pandering. What we get out of that is corruption, sacred cows, and pork barrel spending. There are only a few elected officials left who understand that they have sworn to make decisions that are good for the nation and not just their own district. Heaven help the politician who puts the needs of the country ahead of the wants of his constituents though. They will turn on him worse than they turned on Lieberman.

I'm not sure that a party that does 'more' for the people is a good thing. Because a government that has the power to do more FOR you is more likely to end up doing more TO you.

I prefer a party that does 'less' TO me, that taxes me less, interferes less in my life, has less powers to restrict my freedom and liberty. I prefer a party that doesn't intrude into every aspect of private businesses and that doesn't intrude into the free market.

Because governments, even the US's, do not have a history of successfully intruding into private lives and businesses for the betterment of the country.

Pretty much it goes like this....Republicans in government: You get slapped in the back of the head causing you to bend at the waist and the next thing you know the repulican is walking off zipping up their pants and your rectum hurts.

Democrats: You feel someone come up behind you, they whisper "This is for your own good." you get gently pushed over and hear a whispered "I love you". The democrat says thanks while walking away and you realize you have vasaline in your undies.

That's the difference.

neither, they are both nearly identical in their beliefs and are both incompetent. They can talk about change, but neither party can actually do things for the people or strengthen the nation. The nation is shifting on a course no longer determined by their government's actions.
