My baby girl just turned 5 months, I wanted to know what kind of feeding schedule moms have them on. I know she is supposed to be drinking 6-8 oz of milk. She will only drink 3-4 oz of milk and then 1 hour later wants 2-4 more. I need help getting her on some kind of schedule. She is gaining her right weight and healthy, but I am fixing her a bottle almost every hour. Help please. She has started rice cereal, loves it, but then quits drinking as much milk

My best advice is to check out beechnut.com. They have menu's for what your 5 month old should be eating. It is reliable. They get their info from the Academy of American Pediatrics. Here's what is says in the Beech-nut booklet for 4-6 month olds...
MORNING:
1/4 cup prepared cereal
1 1/2 to 2 1/2 oz. of friut or juice
MIDDAY:
1 to 1 1/2 oz. of meat
1 1/2 to 2 1/2 oz. of veggie
EVENING:
1/4 cup prepared cereal
THROUGHOUT THE DAY:
24 to 32 oz. in 6-8 feedings with meals or in between of formula

Good luck and I hoped this helped!!!

Feed the baby whenever she's hungry. Not all kids will hit a schedule. Our first daughter ate ever hour or so and never in her life drank a large bottle. Only small ones and she if perfectly healthy. The hourly bottle will end soon if she is starting to eat rice cereal. Just bear with it as long as she is healthy and gaining weight.

as you introduce solids she will decrease the amount of milk intake.

i used to do 10,2 and 6 but each baby is different she may only want little bits at a time. if she is not fussed about the milk after food then try increasing her bottle by about 1-2oz a week then replace the bottle an hr later with the solid food.
to start off with only replace one bottle and then gradually biuld up the amount at the meal time and then increase it to 2 meals a day when shes about 7/8 months it really depends on the baby the best thing you can do is follow her.

if in doubt ask your midwife/ health visitor

you can give her as much as she wants....and there is nothing wrong with feeding her the rice cereal...it feels her up more....i gave my son that in the first 2 months in one of those infant feeders....i started to feed my son a little baby food when he was 4 months old, and he loved it....around 5 months he was eating it all of the time, but still got his formula too (like before bed, naps, etc.)....and they say that the baby should only drink milk to feed them and feel them up, but on days that i did not feed him anything besides milk, he would get hungry and cry...they get hungry and milk does not always fill them up....my son is now 11 months old (almost 12) and is not over weight or anything like that....because i did not over feed him, i just feed him when he was hungry!

There is nothing wrong with feeding her a bigger bottle. My daughter is 6 months old and I'm feeding her at least a 6oz bottle. I started her on cereal and some veggies and I still feed her at least a 6oz bottle. Feed your baby til she's full and I bet you will get better results. Good Luck!

What stage milk is she on? If she is on the first stage milk you can move up to the next stage for hungrier babies. Feed her some solids first then give her her milk. The second stage milk makes them feel fuller for a bit longer. Ask your Health Visitor for some advice.

All kids are different I've got 6 they all feed differently but all healthy so try not to worry to much. Try to get her to eat when you do that way you both get in a routine

milk not as important as people make it out to be, stop obsessing-it won't help the baby.
