Excellent question.
Pyro dominates. Torch's flame gets put out w/ asbestos, thin air, water, etc. No reason that Pyro can't handle that. W/ Johnny traumatized, or worse: plummeting down from above, Pyro wins.

I don't think Pyro would be able to F'ing destroy Human Torch because Human Torch's flame is a constant source. More or less, Pyro would just be able to use his source of fire as a weapon because if the Human Torch is already combusted in flames, how can he be injured? My question is can Pyro withstand being engulfed in flames? If not, then the Human Torch could kick his a$$.

I indeed think the match up would be interesting in the case that Pyro can control Fire while Torch can engulf himself in it. I personally believe it has something to do with their backgrounds. Pyro was said to be a level four mutant indeed making him extremely powerful but limits his powers to a point. Johnny Storm on the other hand recieved his powers from Cosmic rays in space so as far as I can tell as long as oxygen is present to make the flame it's power is limitless. So in the end I think that the Human Torch is just too much to handle for Pyro

Human Torch's powers are similar to Iceman's, which as I am sure you know, the heat comes from their body. In essence Human Torch is fire (to answer your final detail)!
So would Pyro control him? Hard to say, but it could go either way, Pyro ripping him apart, or Pyro unable to control Johnny because his fire is 1)controlled, made, and is him and 2)undoubtedly of a different nature than any other fire seen on this earth, this is because he was powered by otherworldly rays. It would probably go to Human Torch for this last reason.
In addition, whatever flame Pyro sent Torch's way wouldn't have any effect, because Johnny can go hotter. So, Pyro wouldn't be able to touch Johnny, which gives him no chance.
However, if Pyro's power over fire is more extensive than I thought it was he would absolutely "F*CKIN DESTROY" however, it is unlikely, he has never been revealed to control high levels of heat (such as plasma, which Johnny appears to create) but instead much lower levels of fire.
Maybe if a timely secondary mutation, like Iceman's, could occur (esp. if Johnny's fire is radioactive, which it likely is, and Pyro tries to use it) with a situation like this would spell Johnny's doom.

Pyro can control fire, Human torch engulfs himself in flame, but from what I remember, it's a different kind of flame, more like plasma made from his body. If what I'm thinking is true, pyro couldn't control human torches flames, as they aren't completely fire. Tho the entailing fight would definitely answer a few questions, I don't think pyro can control human torches flame.

Two things not really being mentioned. Pyro can mentally take control of fire, BUT Johnny is already mentally in control of the flame he creates. Both men have been shown creating fire "constructs", but if memory serves me here, I believe Pyro has been shown creating much more complex contructs, making me think his mental control might be stronger. However Pyro has never had to try to control flames that were already being mentally controlled.
I think the person who suggested Johnny douse his flame and go hand to hand with Pyro might be his safest bet. I think Storm is in better shape, and all Pyro could attack Johnny with would be fire, which Johnny is invunerable to.
Another good point made was the intense heat Johnny can produce, and I'm not sure Pyro has ever been shown to be invunerable to fire.
Interesting question.
Now.....how about Sunfire vs Human Torch? : )

A pretty good question.
Since Johnny Storm hasn't really come up against someone who could take over his abilities yet, I believe the first time they meet there might be a real problem. Like someone else mentioned, it would depend on how much Pyro could handle. I recall him being able to construct some pretty big fire creatures, so it might be a close one.
Obviously, Johnny would have to learn how to resist this sort of thing to prevent it in the future. How that would be done I'm not sure, but I'm thinking Sue would probably be able to teach him to regain control in a manner similar to how she reels in her force field.

i think you have all forgot an important thing about the Human Torch.... he can fly. and it's a lot harder hitting a flying moving target then just one stand there. plus Pyro needs some kind of thing to help him make fire, which means he has to carry something on his back or some where that would be flamable which the Johnny could hit and blow little Pyro *** all over the place.

Dude, go outside and take a walk or something....
...oh and Pyro could just put out Torch's flame, then it would be hand to hand. I don't know if thats ever happend in the moden F4 comics, but certainly in the older stuff.
Who's stronger?
