I'm going next week to Sharm. I've asked friends/family who've been there before and everyone is giving me different answers.

I've so far been told, Euros, British pounds, American Dollars and obviously, Egyption pounds.

I thought if i ask you people out there, then i'll go with whichever most say.

If you are from the UK then you need to take GBP for the Visa at the airport.

Take some spending money in EP then I'd make sure you have Visa or ebit cards to pay for more expensive items or get more EP.

I tip is to make sure you have small denomonations when going out.
Always give the right money when you can.
Also have loose change for tips.

Egpytian pounds. The people there are friendly, but some can take advantage. Especially the people who work in hotels, who may offer to 'show you the sights'. If you buy something ,they will barter for you, but wil go back to the seller later on to receive a commision. It is better to barter and walk away- you always end up paying much less than the original price, even medication from a chemists!!! I have been many many times, and now because of all the bombs and stuff, the tourism has really dropped off. It is all they have there because of a government that hasn't got it's act togther ad it corrupt. Egypt is a great place and quite safe, but is you are blonde and have hips like shakira, then it's better not to walk the streets alone at night. *lol*

Take some american dollars, euros, or british pounds (whatever is you native currency) but mostly go with Egyptian pounds. People in Egyptian tourist areas immediatly try to take advanteage of you if they see an AMerican dollar or such waving around. The prices there are alos far too expensive in the first palce so try to hagle them down.

Use a credit card for airline tickets and hotels. Exchange some money at the airport for Egyptian pounds when you arrive, say enough for a week or so, and use your ATM for any other cash you need. We found it is best to use the local currency. Do not bother with travelers checks -- they are a royal pain and not worth the hassel.
Enjoy your trip; we went to Egypt three years ago and can't wait to go back.

When I went to Sharm last year I took Egyptian pounds. They're the easiest to use, but its very easy to change British pounds to Egyptian when you're over there and you may get a better rate if you barter- British money is highly regarded over there. I'm sure you could buy things in markets with British pounds, but not in restaurants etc.

Enjoy!

Take your pick: US dollars, Euro or Egyptian pounds. Visa or master card work fine too.

I hope you enjoy your trip to Egypt.

Sharm is simply beautiful and I'm sure you'll have a lovely time.

Don't forget your camera and of course your bathing suit!

You get a much extra advantageous exchange value while you're taking pounds sterling, Euros or USD with you and alter them at between the banks in the airport. i these days went to Egypt and located that became right into a much extra advantageous thank you to get extra for my money. The costs have been far extra advantageous in Egypt than in the united kingdom.

Unless you are taking a huge amount of money (£000's) its not worth worrying about. The biggest worry is security of your money. I tend to use my debit card in a machine over there, drawing out enough for a few days at a time, ok it costs me a few pound to do it this way, but at least its safe N sound. Have a fun holiday eh :O)
